Working with survivors and their loved ones to support healing, empowerment, and an understanding

Empowerment

The Crisis Center works with survivors and their loved ones to support healing, empowerment, and an understanding of the impact of trauma. Sexual violence includes rape, sexual assault, child sexual abuse, intimate partner sexual violence, incest, sexual harassment, stalking, and human trafficking. Our hotline advocates are specially trained and provide support, answer questions, and can provide referral guidance to the right services.

All advocates responding to sexual assault calls have received the 40-hour OAG SATP training. These advocates can assist with arranging for a sexual assault medical examination, assist with applying for Crime Victim’s Compensation (CVC), provide transportation to the examination, along with many other services.

SANE stands for Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner. A SANE is a nurse with specialized training to aid survivors of sexual violence and complete a forensic medical examination. The Crisis Center contracts with a SANE program where survivors have access to a free and confidential sexual assault medical examination. The SANE Nurse provides individualized care in a private facility away from the hustle and bustle of a busy emergency room. By utilizing the SANE program, the amount of time spent for examination and treatment can be reduced significantly. The SANE Nurse will perform an exam to collect evidence and check you out physically. This procedure is called a “sexual assault forensic exam”.
