Community
The Education and Outreach program brings knowledge and resources about family violence, sexual assault and child abuse.
We believe the first step toward reducing the staggering number of abuse victims is through education and awareness. Our team coordinates a wide variety of outreach activities, awareness events and presentations in Wharton and Matagorda county.
Our team is frequently invited to deliver presentations to schools, civic organizations, religious organizations, and other social service agencies to educate professionals and community members about issues relating to child abuse, sexual assault, and/or domestic violence.
In addition to educational programming, our community outreach team frequently participates in local health fairs and other guest speaking opportunities.
The outreach team is also responsible for planning annual events including our chicken fried steak fundraiser in January, child abuse/sexual assault awareness event in April, and various domestic violence events throughout October.
